EA Sports has officially let the cat out of the bag: College Football 27 is dropping on July 9, 2026, and they are finally giving us the customization features we’ve been begging for. After years of feeling a bit restricted in the equipment department, this year’s game is shifting a massive amount of focus to on-field style. It's all about letting us fine-tune our "player drip" to perfectly mirror what we see on real-life Saturdays.

If you care about how your players look running out of the tunnel, you’re going to love this. Here is the full breakdown of the major equipment updates, accessories, and player presentation upgrades officially arriving in College Football 27.

Major Headwear & Visor Upgrades
The helmet and face area received some much-needed love this year. For starters, we are finally getting hanging mouthguards. Instead of just static plastic stuck in a facemask, players can now equip dangling mouthpieces that bounce around with realistic physics while running. To make it better, EA added mouthpiece color toggles, meaning you can customize the look with distinct neon colors or team-specific palettes.

Visor options are also expanding. Alongside the basic clear and dark lenses, we’re getting reflective visors to give that extra bit of attitude to our star defensive backs and wideouts. Finally, EA addressed a subtle but crucial issue: realistic helmet tilt. Helmets have been completely adjusted to sit naturally on players' heads, getting rid of that awkward, balanced look from previous games where the helmet felt like it was floating too high.

Authentic Jersey & Padding Scaling
Modern college football has a very specific look when it comes to uniforms, and College Football 27 is capturing that beautifully. We’re getting new crop top variations, specifically a lowered, rolled-up jersey style. This lets players show off that authentic under-jersey aesthetic without looking unrealistically over-cropped.

The physical player models look better, too, thanks to resized shoulder pads. The pads are noticeably smaller and scaled down to accurately represent the modern, lightweight armor players wear today instead of the bulky 1990s-style pads. On top of that, we are getting team-branded backplates. These include custom school logos and specific program mantras, like Notre Dame's famous "Play Like a Champion Today" text.

Arm & Leg Accessories
When it comes to individual player swag, the accessory menu is getting a massive upgrade. Gamers can finally equip single-leg sleeves, a look that tons of real-life players rock but has been frustratingly absent in past games.

You can also equip team-logo towels around the waist, adding an extra layer of school pride. For quarterbacks, you can now place waist-mounted play sheets—the classic "wrist coach" playbook sleeve—directly on the waistline instead of just the forearm.

Best of all, EA worked on the annoying technical bugs by implementing layering fixes. The old "sleeve combo gap" has been completely redesigned, meaning undershirts, arm bands, and sleeves will now fit seamlessly together without those ugly, immersion-breaking clipping textures.

Sideline Apparel Upgrades
The visual overhaul isn't just for the guys on the field; the sidelines are getting a major face-lift too. We are seeing a total coaches apparel overhaul. Sideline personnel, assistants, and head coaches will look much more lifelike with custom team hoodies, modern joggers, and official school apparel. To top it all off, coaches will finally wear authentic, licensed brand-name shoes on the sideline rather than generic, unbranded sneakers.

It’s clear that EA spent a lot of time listening to the community for College Football 27. These updates go way beyond simple cosmetic changes—they fix long-standing texture bugs and bring the game's aesthetic right into the modern era of college football. July 9 can't come soon enough. What accessory are you upgrading first? Let's hear it in the comments.
